MILK THISTLE (Silybum marianum)

The Milk Thistle seeds contain lignamic flavonoids generically called Silymarin. The Silymarin arrests the protrusion of toxins insude the cells and stimulates the regeneration of the liver, forming new hepatic cells. The seeds of Milk Thistle have as effect the hepatocellular protection, by stabilizing the roll played by the hepatic cells membranes. According to the last researches Silybine and silycristine (compounds of Silymarin) provokes the regeneration of hepatic tissues. The Milk thistle stimulates the lover and meets the anti-toxic function.

ARTICHOKE (Cynara scolymus)

The Artichoke leaves have hepatoprotecing properties and stimulants of the hepatic function. In the same time, it has also a coleretic action (increase of bile secreted flow). It reports also a diuretic and antisclerotic action, of cholesterol increase and lipids decrease. The clinical studies confirmed also carminative antiemetical actions. The products containing Artichoke are recommended to hepatobiliary dysfunctions, especially in cases of billiary insufficiency, subacute and chronic cholecystitis, angiocholite (inflammations of biliary ducts), only in partial obstructions of Hepatocholedocus, subacute, chronic hepatitis and per-cirrhosis. It is recommended in diuretic and hypercolesterolemia.

PHYLLANTUS NIRURI (amarus), Traditional name – Stonebreaker

Is an important Ayurveda medicine system plant, being used to the products for stomach problems, genital-urinary system, liver, kidneys and spleen. The scientific investigations showed that the Phyllanthus amarus has a powerful activity on diseases, such as B Hepatitis, HIV, microbial infections, plasmodiasis, nematode infestation, lithiasis, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, hyperuricemia, nephrotoxicity, platelets aggregation, exposure to radiations, algesia, vasoconstriction, hepatotoxicity and biological oxidation. It was proven that both aqueous extracts and the Phyllanthus niruri methanol have hepatoprotecting effect; it increases the hepatic cellular function. Another study was reported to the hepatoprotecting effect of Phyllanthus amarus in ethanol-induced function. A

DANDELION (Taraxum officinale)

Is considered bitter tonic, draining and stimulant of the hepato-biliary secretion, decongestive and diuretic. Among the numerous therapeutic indications, we mention: in chornic angiocolitis, the liver congestion, the hepatic insufficiency and even jaundice, renal and biliary lithiasis, hypercholesterolemia, dermatosis, eczema, acne, furunculosis. It is also recommended to gout, rheumatism, hyperazotermia, oliguria, renal insufficiency, constipation and enterocolytis, circulation disorders, hemorrhoids, cellulitis and even obesity.

CELANDINE (Chelidonium majus)

Besides the major actions, the total extracts of this plant have remarkable antibiotic effects on a large number of pathogenic agents (bacteria, fungus, amoebas). Sanguinarin contained by Celandine, according to some recent studies, proved to have colchycinic-type antitumor effects. The plant extracts have also coleretic-cholagogue actons (contribution to the contraction of bile and the evacuation of bile to duodena), fact known from ancient time in popular medicine, being used to the hepatobiliary disorders, the cholecystopathies and first hepatic cirrhosis. As the active substances in charge with the antiviral actions in case of A, B, C hepatitis are not present in the dead plant, the new product MEGALIV, extraction was made from the full plant (all the plant parts, including the root and rhizomes) in raw state, immediately after harvesting.

ST. JOHN’S WORT (Hypericum perforatum)

The flourished aerial parts with leaves were used to this product. It was harvested during flowering, 3 days after the last rain. It is harvested in sunny days after the dew removal, is cut and dried according to the procedures, to keep its colour. The therapeutic efficiency is much larger observing exactly the harvesting, the cutting and drying procedures. Due to the hypericin and pseudohypericin, the essential oil and the tannins contained by the St. John’s Wort, it has antiseptic, healing and astringent action. The plant’s flavonosides imprint a vasodilating and hypotensive action. The St. John’s Wort is recommended in digestive orders (hyperacid gastritis, gastric-duodenal hyperacide, enterocolitis, biliary dischinesias, hepatitis), fluids retention (edemas, asicitis), nervous arterial hypertension, neurovegetative distonias, psychomotion agitation, panic attacks, depressive conditions, irascibility, insomnia, menopause nervous disorders.

KUTKI (Picrorhiza kurroa)

Is a plant with bitter root that grows at the bottom of Himalaya mountains, Nepal area. It is recognized for the hepatoprotecting properties, the extracts of this root have excellent anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. In Ayurveda medicine, Kutki is included to products for its hepatoprotective effects, cholagogue, anti-splenomegaly, antihepatomegaly, spenlo-protective, detox, febrifuge, digestive, broncho-dilating, calming, antimicrobial effects. It is largely used to improve the jaundice, the hepatic infections, the fever, the allergies, the asthma, the affections of the skin, including the eczema and vitiation, indigestion, constipation, diarrhea, different infections, scorpion bites, malaria and rheumatoid arthritis.
